The Czech Republic has a temperate continental climate with four distinct seasons, so Prague is a year-round destination. Spring (March to May) is fresh and changeable, with temperatures rising quickly, especially in April. Summer (June to August) is warm and sunny with long days, and in cities temperatures can occasionally reach 35°C during heatwaves. Thunderstorms are possible, especially in the late afternoon. Autumn starts mild in September, but from October it gets rainier and cooler, with average daily temperatures around 10°C. Winter (December to February) is cold and often cloudy, with temperatures around or below freezing and occasional snow. Prague then turns into a fairytale city with its famous Christmas markets. Weather can change quickly, so we recommend layers and a compact umbrella, whatever the season.
