Currency & Payments: The official currency is the Czech Koruna (CZK). Euros are accepted at select tourist spots and large stores, but often at a very disadvantageous exchange rate. Card payments are the absolute standard, even in small businesses. It is recommended to carry a small amount of cash for trips to the countryside, outdoor markets, or public restrooms.
Tipping: Tipping is not mandatory but is a rooted custom. If satisfied with the service in a restaurant or cafe, the standard tip is around 10%. The amount is usually rounded up and announced to the server directly when paying (applicable to both cash and card payments). Tips are generally not left on the table after departure.
Internet & Calling: Internet coverage is excellent. Travelers from the EU can use their mobile data and calls without roaming surcharges (Roam Like at Home). For non-EU travelers, purchasing an eSIM (e.g., via Airalo) or a local prepaid SIM card is the most cost-effective solution. Free Wi-Fi is widely available in hotels, cafes, trains, and long-distance buses.
